Why order your boots from The Horse's Hoof? Because we are long-time barefooters, and we actually use all the boots! Instead of a salesperson, you'll be talking with a real rider. We can give you practical, real world advice.

Soaking Tips:
Your barefoot horse's hooves may be soaked on a regular basis, even daily, in clean water covering the coronet band. Soaking really helps before a trim, to make the job much easier!

More attention should be paid to this whenever the weather is dry, or if you live in a dry climate. There are distinct changes that happen to the hoof capsule whenever it is depleted of moisture, and there will be actual measurable shrinking of the hoof capsule. If you are rehabbing a horse with hoof problems, contraction, navicular or founder, you might want to soak more often.

How long? If the hooves are fairly healthy, 15 minutes is long enough. If you live in a dry climate and/or are dealing with a severe hoof deformity, maybe longer - but in a dry climate, be sure to put a natural dressing on the hoof to seal the water in (we recommend Hoof Alive). For soaking out an abscess, forget the epsom salts--add a splash of apple cider vinegar to a water filled boot. If you have an open wound on the hoof, you can also try soaking sometimes with a little bit of Thrush Crush Propolis added to the water.

What about soaking in mud instead? The problem is the ph balance of the mud. If you don't know what it is and how it will affect the hooves, you could make your horses' hooves too hard or too soft! If you don't wish to use boots, try teaching your horse to stand in a bucket.

A "must-have" for all boots!!!

Comfort Pads - These EVA Foam pads provide the solar support that research has shown is necessary for healthy hoof function. Pads will help prevent peripheral loading of the hoof! They will also give horses with severe hoof conditions immediate relief.

If it is underpriced, well, you get a bonus.

(A few select items are drop-shipped from the manufacturer, such as EasyCare Boots, Davis Boots in some sizes, Hoofjacks and Dynamite products - usually sent UPS or FedX ground, and these items are NOT available for international delivery.)

United States Shipping: Most items sent by USPS Priority Mail with a 2-3 day estimated delivery timeframe. No rush shipping is available - please allow a couple extra days for order processing (which goes through Yvonne, and I'm just one person!), and please don't count weekends or holidays. I do try to get orders sent out as quickly as possible, usually next business day.

Canada Shipping: Shipped U.S. Postal Service, Priority Mail International with 6 - 10 Days Estimated Delivery Time (does not include weekends or holidays). This does not include time in Canadian Customs office.
Note: Some items cannot be shipped due to customs regulations.
