Elizabeth (Betsy) Merritt, Strasser Hoofcare Professional
Western Massachusetts, United States
Elizabeth Merritt (Betsy) lives on a farm in Western Massachusetts. She started her interest in hoof care when she was a kid, when her beloved pony foundered. Later, when 2 more horses had chronic laminitis leading to founder, she felt there must be something out there that she can do to help. She got on the internet and found various barefoot trimming methods which really seemed to get the horses going in the right direction.
Betsy became an SHP in May 2002, and her 2 foundered horses are
happy, sound, healthy horses after years of chronic laminitis. Betsy looks after
9 horses of various breeds, now all barefoot and sound at her Natural Boarding
facility, as well as many other horses in the area. Summer 2004 she will be
accepting rehab cases at her farm for boarding that need extra special care.
She also travels to upper NYS, NH, VT central Mass on a regular basis for trimming.
Betsy pleasure trail rides in the very rocky regions of the hill town of Western Mass. "I dare you to try to keep up!" She also drives and competes in Competitive Trail rides, Gymkhanas, judged pleasure rides, parades throughout the region, all barefoot, of course! She is currently working towards her seminar license.
She is a graduate of The Oregon School of Natural Hoofcare and
Easycare hoof boot Dealer.
